We've been asked what we believe.
We do believe certain things (& those things fuel what we do) but we don't hold up our beliefs as a checklist for folk to agree with or approve of (or not).
We don't expect folk who come along on a Sunday to agree with us, & even talking about our beliefs feels a bit like putting the cart before the horse. More important than what we believe, is creating space for folk to encounter Jesus.
But, to answer the question, we believe that
Life is better connected to God
Jesus helps us know God
So it's really worth getting to know Jesus
We can do that through his stories & stories about him, that we find in the Bible...
...and what we learn from others looking at those same stories
This is really our (simplified) version of the core beliefs of an organisation called 'Churches Together in England'. They say
Churches Together in England unites in pilgrimage those Churches in England which, acknowledging God’s revelation in Christ, confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures, and, in obedience to God’s will and in the power of the Holy Spirit commit themselves:
to seek a deepening of their communion with Christ and with one another in the Church, which is his body; and
to fulfil their mission to proclaim the Gospel by common witness and service in the world
...to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
...which is just a little wordy for us!
